- The Doctrine of the Trinity includes three truths of faith
- First, the trinity is one. We don not speak of three Gods but of one God. Each of the Persons is fully God. They are a unity of Persons in one divine nature.
- Second, the Divine Persons are distinct from each other. Father, Son, and Spirit are not three appearances, or modes of God, but three identifiable persons, each fully God in a way distinct from the others.
- Third, the Divine Persons are in relation to each other. The distinction of each is understood only in reference to the others. Father cannot be the father without the Son, nor can the Son be the Son without the Father. The Holy Spirit is related to the Father and the Son and both send Him forth.
- The first line of the Bible says, In the beginning when God created the heavens and the earth (Gn 1:1)
- God created the world out of his wisdom and love.
- God made the universe our of nothing
- Creation reflects God's goodness and wisdom. God looked at everything he had made, and found it very good.
- Catholic philosophy and theology have traditionally held that human intellect comes to know the truth through scientific discovery and philosophical reasoning and can even come to a knowledge of God and many of his purposes through and understating of created realities.
- The Pastoral Constitution of the Church in the Modern World (Gaudium et Spes) teaches that "methodical research in all branches of knowledge, provided it is carried out in a truly scientific manner and does not override moral laws, can never conflict with the faith because the things of the world and the things of faith derive from the same God.
